Disclaimer

"Dimmable" means "able to be dimmed". However, most likely your existing dimmer was around long before LED was invented, and may or may not be compatible. Since there have been hundreds of types / models / brands over the years, we cannot possibly guarantee that the dimmer you have will work well. Some dimmers will work very well, others might flicker a little at the top end or bottom end, some may work only for part of the turn, others will have a low setting and a high setting with only a slight turn and others may just have no dimming at all.

We can only test the dimmers we have been able to source.

As an example, our downlights have been tested against these model dimmers:

- Kiwi Electronics K 005 U - Universal Dimmer (trailing edge mode): poor result. Small dial range, flickering, small dimming range

- Kiwi Electronics K 005 U - Universal Dimmer (leading edge mode): good result. Wide dial range, no flicker, wide dimming range

- Kiwi Electronics K 005 L - Triac Dimmer: good result. Wide dial range, no flicker, wide dimming range

- Clipsal 32E450LM Leading Edge Dimmer: good result. Wide dial range, occasional flicker, wide dimming range

- Clipsal 32E400LVM Dimmer: good result. Wide dial range, no flicker, wide dimming range

- HPM 500E Dimmer: poor result. Strobing at low end

Should your dimmer provide a poor result, you may need to upgrade it. We don't have a database of dimmer models and will not be able to confirm compatibility of your model. Some "universal" dimmers claim to work on everything including LED, but in fact may not.

LED World is not responsible for any incompatibility issues, nor any damage resulting from incompatibility.
